At Forward Life Counseling

yes, healing can be an investment

It’s time. And you deserve it.

It’s time for you to invest back into yourself, to allow yourself that space and time to heal.

It just is.

I know it can feel like a lot to add one more thing into the week, to set aside an hour, to set aside the funds, and to put emotional energy into your healing every week (or every other week, or every month, whatever you want).

But you deserve it. You deserve to finally feel the weight of it all lift, to finally release the pain, the sorrow, the trauma.

And what is it worth to you to finally truly feel some of that?

To finally feel lighter and to feel more like your whole self?

And you can do this at whatever pace feels best. If you want to try out a consultation, if you want to go to sessions weekly, every other week, every three weeks…

…I am here for you and I will meet you where you’re at.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • I am currently conducting all sessions via telehealth using a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform called SimplePractice. You can use your computer, tablet, or smartphone to access it; more details will be sent to you when you schedule a session. If you prefer a phone call instead of video, that is an option as well. I will update this page and my clients when I resume in-person sessions.

  • When you schedule your initial session, I will send you an invitation via email to my client portal, where you’ll be able to review and complete new client paperwork before we meet. The initial session will focus on us getting to know each other and identifying your goals for therapy. This will help us to establish the best overall plan for you, including how often we should meet initially.

Whether you've worked with multiple counselors or this is your first time stepping into a counseling office, my goal is to offer a warm, non-judgmental, and comfortable space where we can co-create a strong therapeutic relationship that helps you heal and grow.

Sessions are 50 minutes long. Throughout our work together, we'll focus on taking concrete steps toward the goals you’ve identified. I work in a collaborative way with my clients; you are the expert in yourself and your needs, though I can be more directive when you are not sure what you need to focus on.

  • I am an in-network provider with Aetna, Anthem, Cigna, Medical Mutual, and Optum. If you have a different insurance provider, you may also be able to use out-of-network benefits.

  • For clients using in-network insurance benefits, you will be responsible for your co-pay at the time of session, which varies depending on your policy. If you are not sure about your co-pay, I recommend calling your insurance provider to find out. We can discuss out-of-network benefits if you have questions about how to get reimbursed from your insurance provider.

If you are not able to utilize insurance, feel free to reach out to me to inquire if I have any reduced-fee spots available. Payment is due at time of session via cash, check, or credit/debit card.

  • I offer individual counseling for adults and adolescents, as well as couples counseling. I specialize in grief, trauma + PTSD, and depression, and also have experience working with substance abuse, anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, and more. If you’re not sure whether I am the right person to support you with your current needs, just reach out and we can discuss.

I am a committed ally of marginalized populations including but not limited to LGBTQ+ and BIPOC individuals. For more about my background and therapeutic approach, visit this page.

  • The duration of counseling is highly individualized. My goal is to empower you to be your own best advocate and gain the skills and healing you need to succeed without me. Depending on each person's unique situation, some clients may come to therapy for a handful of sessions to learn some coping skills and process an event; others choose to maintain a longer term therapeutic relationship.

I typically recommend beginning with weekly or biweekly sessions, but once you start seeing progress toward your goals, we can decrease the frequency of sessions and keep an open dialogue about when you feel ready to discontinue sessions.
